WITH STONES |
When you feel stressed you can feel ‘charged’, it can feel literally like you have a cloud of static energy around you. Crystals can help to dissipate this feeling (no, not by throwing them Lol!)
Just by holding a crystal (one in each hand) - you can actually feel a difference, it can help to dissipate this charge! You should do this in an intentional way, allowing enough time for your body to re-set. Personally I find softer crystals help the most with this - like Calcites. They are more porous/receptive and can even help with some milder forms of pain (which ‘can’ be related to stuck energy). Quartz can be too energizing - and crystal points ‘direct’ energy so this likely won’t be as helpful. Smooth palmstones would likely work best for this purpose. Having said all of this, you have to trust what ‘you’ feel - I’d suggest playing with this, and trying different stones to see what happens? Why does this help: It’s related to a property of crystals - they have something called a Dominant Oscillatory Rate (DOR) based on their precise geometric structure. This makes them very stable. We do ‘not’ have this - and so, we essentially entrain with the crystal. Our bodies are inherently electrical by nature. Electroencephalograms (EEG’s) Electrocardiograms (ECG’s) measure this. At rest we can produce around 100 watts of power on average - that’s enough power to light up a bulb! It’s little wonder that when we get upset and frustrated we can 'feel' it in our bodies! Method: Find 2 crystals that feel right for you to work with, and cleanse them in whatever way works for you. Make yourself comfortable, lie down (if possible) hold a crystal in each hand (preferably the same type) - focus on your breath, and relax. Depending on how much time you have, you can create a longer experience, and add some calming music - or - sit quietly for 5 - 10 minutes. Afterwards, be sure to cleanse the crystals again. I hope this is helpful! Please consider joining me for Crystal Workshops that I offer, you'll find them in the events tab! Carol Certified Crystal Practitioner

The correspondence is the symbolic language of the stone, how it’s communicating with you. The colour, shape and patterns on (and in) a crystal each have something to say and represent a gateway into the world of that particular stone. As far as the colour of the stone goes, there are many common correspondences that we might generally think of - for example pink is for love and compassion, blue relates to the mind, and to communication, etc. It's important to figure out what’s best for 'you'. It’s very subjective, because your energy pattern is unique to you! It’s said that you’re drawn to what you need in the moment, so it’s a good idea to be clear and grounded, before going into a crystal store. You might be looking for, something quite specific - a clear quartz point with some weight in it, to use in a grid - but a piece of Mangano Calcite calls to you, and you can’t resist! And, yes! this might have happened to me (Lol!) There is something in you that spots a stone (even from a distance) and knows "that's the one!" That feeling is the one that you have to learn to trust! What you want, and what you need might be different. Stone patterns are one of my favourite things to look for, when choosing crystals. Several years ago, found a piece of Septarian with images of 2 Animal guides I’d been working with - they weren’t ‘clear’, and possibly no one else would see them - but I saw them right away!!! I’ve been working with this same stone ever since then, when I'm doing shamanic work, and it’s been a powerful ally!
The meanings assigned by others (via books, google, etc) really represent someone else’s experience of that stone. They certainly may work for you, but they may not, and that’s ok. You actually might miss out on the crystal that is right for you if you ‘only’ go by a books recommendation. As an example, when looking for a stone that was recommended for motivation you may head straight for the Carnelian - when a stone which might be more in alignment with you, say, a lovely piece of Tigers Eye is putting its hand way, way up, on the other side of the store. But you sadly, don’t see it. Now don’t get me wrong, books are great (they have 'lots' of valuable info) - and I continue to buy new ones (and share some favourites in the resources section), but they won’t help you as much as your own sense of things will! The more you practice trusting your intuition, the stronger it will become! I'd suggest making notes as you work with stones, to keep track of your personal correspondences. Before you know it, you'll have your own crystal reference book. There's so much more to working with crystals, and understanding their energies - this is a meant as a jumping off point. I'll share more in future blog posts. Carol Certified Crystal Practitioner |
In this section I’ll be posting about some of my perspectives on working with crystals & stones. My focus is on helping others find their own ways into this. How does the way the crystal is formed contribute to its effects on us - and what is this effect? How is a piece of Amethyst from India different from one in Uruguay? What does it mean to charge or program a crystal, and should you do that? As well I have an interest in working with them together with Astrology (more info in the Resources section). It’s a passion of mine to keep learning about crystals & stones, and I look forward to sharing more of this journey here, and in the classes I teach.
I hope you'll join me! - Carol |
